Andover is a community that places an immense amount of focus on education. For many, the driving factor to move to town was our great school district. Unfortunately, Andover Public Schools has suffered significantly from poor leadership and mismanagement. In the past ten years we've seen poor state testing scores, a plummeting graduation rate at AHS, and have dropped significantly in state rankings. The effects of the COVID pandemic are still felt by our students and many require more hands on instruction from our faculty. Despite this, the current School Committee and Superintendent are moving forward with a FY2025 budget that would cut 36 student-facing FTE (full-time equivalent) positions. On the School Committee I will prioritize protecting student-facing faculty from budget cuts, reform district policy to better support our students, and give our students, educators, and parents a voice during important policy decisions.
